Plastic Shells

Waking early, we ventured down to the beach to wander along the shoreline. The waves were particularly turquoise in the early light despite overcast sky threatening rain. The beach was being cleaned of seaweed by giant tractor-drawn rakes, at least in front of each hotel.
We came across a gap in the hotel line just two hundred yards along from our hotel. It was unbuilt and ungroomed. Blue shell slivers poked from the sand, inviting further enquiry but sadly they were plastic. The beach, on closer inspection, was littered; mountains of seaweed held masses of plastic waste, as this video shows.
Two miles south Turtles nest.
