1. It's expensive, like the rest of the USA. We'd say UK+33%.

2. The museum of modern art has Picasso's Starry Night'. Unlike the Tate, you have to pay $25 to get in.

3. Time Square isn't a square; if it rains, it won't be crowded.

4. The Statue of Liberty was donated by and first assembled in France. It's actually copper, but over thirty years, it oxidised green.

5. Healthy options are hard to find, but at least you can get great Pizza- visit Joe's Pizza, as featured in Spider-Man. Almost as good as in Italy.

6. The NY Public Library is next to Bryant Park, a lovely community space. You can now see the original Pooh Bear, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore, which is in the Public Library collection.

7. The Natural History Museum, which sits to the left of Central Park, really is like the movie 'Night in the Museum'. We found it charming but a bit old-fashioned.

8. New York has no mobility scooters; in 5 days, we didn't spot one…for that matter, there weren't many people over 65.

9.Prices exclude Sales Tax of about 8%, then a tip might be added.

10. There is a Little Italy next to Chinatown.

11. There are fewer yellow cabs than before, resulting from the new taxi App economy.

12. An old subway line that floats above the city streets has been converted into an urban park called the high line. It starts near a new building called the Hive.

13. The USA TV show 'Friend's' fountain is not the one in Central Park; it's actually one in California. You can, however, visit their former apartment in New York.

15. New York is full of Irish pubs. A result of mass immigration from Ireland, partly due to the Potato Famine, which caused people to look for a better life in the USA.

16. Phantom on Broadway is as good as London's WestEnd; somewhat ironic in a pandemic when the audience all wore white masks.

17. You have to pay a city tax per hotel room of $35\day.
