  1. There are three pods of Killer Whales who live in the nearby island area all year long.

  2. It is the capital of Washington state with the most sightings of bigfoot, including one in December 2021.

  3. The first Starbucks was established in Seattle and can still be visited.

  4. It has one of the fasted growth rates in the USA, at around 10% a year.

  5. It became the gateway to the Alaskan gold rush in the 1800s and was also a big timber port.

  6. Bruce Lee lived in Seattle.

  7. Although relatively northerly, the state has a thriving wine industry producing excellent wine. It has a whole area just 30 mins northeast of the city, where wine is made and 'tasted'.

  8. Native Indians were the first actual settlers, living in the area 4000 years ago.

  9. Both 'Sleepless in Seattle' and 'Frasier' were filmed there. You can still see the houseboat in the' Sleepless' movie.

  10. It experiences earthquakes.

  11. Its observation platform, "Space Needle" (see Photo), was built for the 1962 World Fair and has the only rotating floor in the world.
